Alert which closed railway line in Lurgan was hoax

Army bomb squad

The railway line has reopened at Lurgan after a security alert was declared a hoax by the police.

It followed the discovery of a suspicious object close to the line at Bells Row crossing.

A number of homes were evacuated in the Belvedere Manor area and Army bomb experts were sent to the scene.

The Antrim Road has reopened after being closed for a time due to the alert.
