Two seriously injured in HGV crash on A20 in Kent

Two people have been seriously injured after two heavy goods vehicles caught fire after colliding on the A20 in Kent.

The emergency services were called to the London-bound carriageway near Samphire Hoe just after 1530 BST.

Both the injured were taken to the William Harvey Hospital, one with life-threatening injuries.

Police said both carriageways of the A20 were expected to remain closed until at least midnight.

Foreign registered

Motorists have been asked to avoid the motorway between Folkestone and Dover due to severe disruption, and to use the A2/M2 instead.

Local traffic disruption is also expected for Dover town centre.

Six fire engines, a water unit, and a foam unit along with 60 firefighters and specialist vehicles dealt with the incident.

Both of the lorries were not registered in the UK.
