The former director of Tate Britain has become a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for services to art.

Dr Stephen Deuchar, of Westwell, Kent, became director of the independent charity, The Art Fund, in January.

On his appointment, he said he was proud of his time at Tate Britain, and felt privileged to have worked alongside "inspirational colleagues".

Others to be honoured by the Queen in Kent include Det Insp David Holmes, who receives the Queen's Police Medal.

Another recipient is Councillor Palma Laughton, chairwoman of Stanhope Parish Council, who becomes an MBE for her work in transforming Ashford's Stanhope Estate.
