Prince Charles is due to start a three-day stay at Birkhall on Royal Deeside as he recuperates from a persistent chest infection.

Clarence House said the Duke of Rothesay had been told by doctors to rest.

Prince Charles is due to be at Birkhall, his private residence on the Queen's Balmoral Estate, until Wednesday.

His wife, the Duchess of Rothesay, is expected to be with him.
