Great Central Railway's wartime weekend

The Great Central Railway in Leicestershire has turned back the clock to the 1940s with the help of an re-enactment group.

Platforms along the steam railway route, including Loughborough, Quorn and Leicester, were transformed as part of Operation Turning the Tide.

Look-a-like vocalist Vera Lynn performed and children were able to enter a boot camp during the weekend.

The steam railway runs from Loughborough to Leicester via Quorn.

Other historic figures involved in the re-enactment were King George VI, Churchill and General Montgomery.
