Man survives after being shot in car in Birmingham
A man is recovering in hospital after being shot while sitting in his car in Birmingham.
The 28-year-old was in his VW Golf with four other people in Alum Rock Road, Alum Rock, when they were approached by a gunman shortly before midnight on Friday.
Police said the man opened fire before escaping in a waiting car.
The victim, who suffered gunshot wounds, is in a stable condition in hospital. No-one else was injured.
Part of the road has been sealed off by West Midlands Police for forensic examination.
Det Insp Simon Vowles said: "The inquiry is in an early stage.
"We are investigating the reasons behind the shooting. Initially it seems the victim may have been targeted, although we are examining all the possibilities."
