A man in his 50s has died after his dinghy capsized in Strangford Lough.

He was out on the water with another man and two children.

They were brought to safety and are said be cold and shocked but otherwise unharmed. They have been taken to the Ulster hospital in Dundonald.

An instructor from Newtownards sailing club noticed the upturned boat just before midday and raised the alarm. It is not yet known how long they were in the water, or why the dinghy capsized.

The lifeboat, police and the coastguard were all called out to assist in the rescue.
