Man is stabbed in knife attack

A man in his 30s has been stabbed and assaulted in the face in Portadown, County Armagh.

It happened in Ballyoran Park area between 0200 BST and 0300 BST on Sunday.

He was taken to hospital for treatment for stab wounds. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Police said it is not clear what type of weapon was used, but that initial enquiries suggest that the stab wounds were caused by some type of knife.

The circumstances of the incident are still being established, police have appealed for information.
