People who were at a country club when a two-year-old boy was pulled unconscious from a pool have been urged to contact police.

The child was pulled from the indoor swimming pool at the Abshot Country Club, Titchfield Common in Fareham, on Saturday night.

At the time the World Cup match between England and USA was being screened.

The boy, who was at the club with his parents, remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

Not breathing

He is in the children's intensive care unit at Southampton General Hospital.

A spokeswoman for Hampshire police said officers had already spoken to many of the people who were at the club on Saturday evening.

She said they were keen to hear from anyone who was there between 1800 BST and 2000 BST and had not yet spoken to police.

When the boy was found in the pool he was not breathing but staff at the club revived him.
