Man and woman injured in Moray accident

Two people have been taken to hospital after a collision between a car and a motor bike in Moray.

The 52-year-old male motorcycle rider was flown to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by an RAF rescue helicopter.

His 51-year-old female pillion passenger was taken to Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin after also suffering serious injuries.

Grampian Police said the accident happened on an unclassified road between Portgordon and Spey Bay at about 1245 BST.

Sgt Chris Whelan of the road policing unit at Elgin said: "The collision involved a motorcycle with a Dutch rider and pillion passenger colliding head on with a 4x4 style motor car.

"As a result both rider and pillion suffered multiple fractures. The rider's injuries were particularly significant and he was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary".
