A driver has been bailed after a man died and his passenger was seriously hurt in a crash on the M4 in Berkshire.

An Audi A3 and a Vauxhall Astra collided on Saturday afternoon on the London-bound carriageway between junctions 13 and 12 near Reading.

The Astra driver, 80, died at the scene. The Audi driver, who was also hurt, was held on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and bailed.

An elderly woman, who was in the Astra, is in a critical but stable condition.

All six lanes of the motorway were closed to allow two air ambulances and other emergency vehicles to get to the scene.
