Car explosion in Cambridge court fire probe

A controlled explosion was carried out on a car at Cambridge railway station following a fire at a courtroom in the city, police have revealed.

Cambridge County Court was evacuated when fire broke out in court six at about noon on Monday.

A 62-year-old man, from Waterbeach, arrested at the station, was held on suspicion of arson. No-one was hurt during the fire.

The station building was closed during the operation on Monday afternoon.

The fire service said a liquid, believed to be petrol, had been used.
