Moray Council's care of children 'improving'

Social work services for children in Moray have improved, inspectors have said.

A report in 2008 warned that the local authority needed to make improvements in several areas.

It found inspectors were not confident children at risk received the help and support they needed.

A fresh report by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education said that "significant progress" had been made by the council.

Sandy Riddell, Moray Council's director of community services and chairman of the Moray Child Protection sub committee, praised staff for their efforts.
