Long delays after accident on A8

A rush-hour accident on the A8 in North Lanarkshire caused major delays and traffic queues.

The westbound A8 Edinburgh-Glasgow road was closed for three hours between the junction for the A725 and Bargeddie due to a "serious" crash, police said.

Traffic was diverted off the A8 at the Shawhead flyover.

The "three-car" crash, which happened at about 0715 BST, resulted in long delays on the A8 and the M8 as well as having a knock-on effect on the M74.
