Boy, 9, rescued from Denbighshire drainage pipe

A nine-year-old boy was rescued by firefighters after becoming stuck in a plastic drainage pipe.

Crews used a handsaw to release the boy, who fell into the pipe in Llandyrnog, Denbighshire, on Tuesday.

It took firefighters about 20 minutes to free him, although he is believed to have been trapped for more than two hours before they arrived.

Paramedics attended the scene but the boy was not injured and is not believed to have gone to hospital.

A spokeswoman for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said they were called at about 2120 BST.

"He was released with a handsaw.

"He had no injuries and we got the stop message at 2141 hours."
