Royal Anglians given freedom of Southend
Soldiers from the 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment have paraded through an Essex town.
The battalion recently returned from a six-month tour of Afghanistan and are taking part in a march through Southend.
Members of the battalion have been awarded freedom of the borough in recognition of their service to their community.
The regiment lost five soldiers during its deployment to Afghanistan.
The five members of the regiment killed were L/Cpl Scott Hardy, Pte James Grigg, Capt Martin Driver, Pte Robert Hayes and L/Cpl Adam Drane.
The troops took part in parades through Cambridgeshire earlier this week.
