Man badly hurt in Aberdeenshire industrial 'explosion'

A man was airlifted for hospital treatment after being badly hurt in an industrial accident in Aberdeenshire.

The 24-year-old was flown to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by air ambulance helicopter after the accident at a garage at Pitmachie at about 1500 BST.

The Scottish Ambulance Service told the BBC Scotland news website the man suffered serious injuries.

It is understood there may have been some kind of explosion, leaving the man with head injuries.

Grampian Police said that a section of the A96 had been closed at Pitmachie as a result, but later re-opened.
