Go-ahead for Inverness-shire hydro power project

A hydro power scheme designed to generate enough electricity for 1,600 homes has been approved by the Scottish government.

RWE Npower Renewables' project has been proposed for a site at Cia-Aig, near Achnacarry, Inverness-shire.

The government said construction of the plant would provide work for up to 20 people and once completed would generate low carbon power.

Highland Council had previously approved the plan.
