Telford drama group in funding plea

A drama group which helps people with learning difficulties hopes to find thousands of pounds to keep it running.

Julie Watson, who works with Together We Can in Telford, said it needed at least £10,000 to keep it going for another year.

She said: "The aim is to help people gain confidence and self esteem."

She said it was currently funded through the charity Taking Part which she thought was still going to pay for part of it.

Ms Watson added: "A lot of the guys haven't got much confidence and have had lots of social problems.

"Some of them have had quite an isolated life, so by using drama and performance skills [it] will help them to sort of develop their own self esteem.

"We don't want it to fold obviously, because the guys have come such a long way.

"We have got a few things in the pipeline."
