Controlled explosion for suspect package found in Frome

A 100m-cordon was put around the centre of Frome after a suspicious package was discovered.

People in homes and businesses around Market Square were asked to leave buildings in the area late on Thursday afternoon.

Experts were called, who then carried out a controlled explosion on the package.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said it was unclear what the package was or what it contained.

People were allowed back into the area just after 2000 BST.
