Men charged after disorder at Burton v Grimsby match

Five men have been charged by police investigating violence at a football match between Burton Albion and Grimsby Town on 8 May.

Two Grimsby men aged 53 and 31 and a Cleethorpes man aged 46 have been charged with public order offences.

A 40-year-old Grimsby man has been charged with assaulting a police officer and a Cleethorpes man aged 36 has been charged with criminal damage.

They will appear before magistrates in Burton upon Trent on 14 July.

A further four men, three from Grimsby and one from Cleethorpes, were charged earlier this month with offences relating to the disorder.

They are due to appear at Burton Magistrates' Court on 7 July, Staffordshire Police said.

Grimsby Town were relegated from League Two after their 3-0 defeat at Burton's Pirelli Stadium in May.
