Police in Angus have warned homeowners to be vigilant after Scottish Water-branded clothing was stolen from a building in Forfar.

A number of items were taken from the Scottish Water premises, including polo-shirts, boiler suits, fleeces and high-visibility jackets.

The theft is thought to have taken place at some point since 30 May.

Tayside Police said there was concern the clothing could be used to gain access to people's homes.

A spokesman added: "The public are advised that should anyone claiming to be from Scottish Water attend at their address, they should always ask to see an identification card.

"If unsure, visitors should be asked to wait outside whilst Scottish Water is contacted to confirm identity."

Police have asked anyone with information about the theft to contact them.
