A body has been recovered from a river in Aberdeen after a sighting was investigated by rescue crews.

Aberdeen lifeboat and Aberdeen Coastguard personnel were called after the sighting by a member of the public.

Grampian Police said it was reported in the Garthdee area of the city on Sunday morning.

A spokesperson for the force told the BBC Scotland news website the body and cause of death would have to be identified.
