A man has denied murdering a mother-of-two who was found with serious head injuries in a Lancashire street.

Debbie Ryan, 40, was discovered in Pall Mall, Chorley, on 30 March. The mother-of-two died in hospital four days later.

Richard Ciborowski, 31, of no fixed abode, was first charged with wounding but was later charged with murder.

He pleaded not guilty at Preston Crown Court. His trial was set for 29 November, a court spokeswoman said.

Ms Ryan had two daughters, aged 19 and 21, and four grandchildren, Lancashire police said.

A post-mortem examination found Ms Ryan died from a trauma to the head.
