Vehicle camera to be used in Loughborough

Travelling criminals and drivers using untaxed or insured vehicles are being targeted in a Leicestershire town.

Police in Loughborough are now using an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) camera to catch offenders.

The camera is linked to a computerised system that enables number plates to be read and matched against a number of databases.

Sgt Nigel Rixon said the camera would be used to quickly and easily highlight offending vehicles.
