Man faces court over Elgin murder bid

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder and mobbing and rioting in Elgin.

Andrew Wilson, 22, appeared at the town's sheriff court following a large-scale disturbance in Lesmurdie Road last week involving several people.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody.

Stephen Johnston, 37, died in hospital after the disturbance. A man has already appeared in court charged with murder.

John Stewart, 31, from Moray, also appeared on Tuesday charged with mobbing and rioting. He made no plea and was remanded in custody.
