Mexborough tyre fire residents return home
Residents evacuated from their homes after a large fire at a tyre depot in South Yorkshire have been told they can return.
The fire at White Lea Grove industrial units in Mexborough began on Monday. By Wednesday morning the fire had been fully extinguished.
Fire crews were expected to leave the scene later on Wednesday.
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said the cause of the fire, which involved 120,000 tyres, was still unknown.
About 20 people were forced to leave their homes for two nights after the fire began.
They were offered alternative accommodation by Doncaster Council at a nearby hotel.
All roads affected by the fire have been reopened and Doncaster Council said air monitoring was continuing to be carried out by the Environment Agency.
