Seven arrested after drugs raids in Shrewsbury

Seven people were arrested and a significant quantity of suspected Class A drugs were seized by police in raids on five addresses in Shrewsbury.

A quantity of cannabis was also recovered by West Mercia officers from the houses in York Road, Dutton Green and Rutland in Harlescott Grange.

The raids formed part of Operation Maroon - a long-term operation targeted those suspected in the supply of drugs.

The seven were later being interviewed at Shrewsbury police station.

A man in his 30s and a woman in her 40s were arrested from one address in York Road on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.

Police said "a significant amount" of what is believed to be Class A drugs and cannabis was recovered.

From the same address, a teenage girl was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis.

A similar amount of suspected Class A drugs was also recovered from a neighbouring address, where a man in his 20s and a woman in her 30s were arrested on suspicion of possession.

In Dutton Green, a man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of possession and cultivation of cannabis and a small amount of suspected cannabis and a plant were found.

At a neighbouring address, a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis and a small amount recovered.
