Four Somerset schools to become academies

Four of Somerset's secondary schools say they intend to become academies this September.

Holyrood School in Chard and Kings of Wessex School in Cheddar will adopt the new status next term.

Huish Episcopi School near Langport and Oldfield School in Bath will also become academies.

The government has offered all schools rated as "outstanding" the chance to opt out of local authority control and be fast-tracked as academies.
