Pedestrian dies in A34 lorry crash

A pedestrian was killed when she was hit by a lorry on the A34 in Berkshire.

The woman was struck by a lorry just below the top of the hill at Enborne, on the southbound carriageway, at about 0630 BST.

Police said the A34 would remain shut southbound, from the junction with the A4 to the Wash Common section, for several hours.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the route and to follow the diversions that are in place.

A spokesman said: "Police appealing for witnesses to the collision would particularly like to speak to the driver of a white Scania articulated lorry that was parked in the lay-by adjacent to the crash site just prior to the incident and may have witnessed the collision."
