Football centre in Norwich backed by council
A scheme to build a £2.25m football centre in Norwich has been backed by councillors.
Goals Soccer Centres has been given the go-ahead by Norwich City Council to build the centre on former school playing fields at the Hewett School.
The scheme includes 10 artificial grass sports pitches which can be played on throughout the year, and a new sports pavilion and car park.
The pitches will for part of the time be used by Hewett School.
The firm Goals Soccer Centres provides pitches for football games, a venue for events and training for youngsters interested in developing football skills.
Morris Payton, operations director of Goals Soccer Centres, said: "The school and wider community share our vision of getting every youngster more involved in sport and this facility will deliver free facilities for the school and community during the day."
