Robbers targeted mother and son by her Lancashire home

A businesswoman and her son were robbed in a "pre-planned and organised" attack in Lancashire.

The victim, who is in her 70s, and her son were targeted as they arrived at their home in King Street, Whalley, at about 1820 BST on Thursday.

As soon as they pulled up, a man opened the door of their red Mazda and stole two bags, a Sony PSP console and a substantial quantity of money.

Det Sgt Nigel Watson said: "This was an orchestrated and well planned attack."

Neither victim was injured, but both were left severely shaken.

The man then fled up a nearby alleyway to The Grove where an accomplice was waiting on a motorbike.

Mr Watson added: "It is quite likely these offenders have been watching the victim's movements in recent days.

"I would urge anybody who has seen anything suspicious to police."
