Meeting held over sewage works turbine plans

A public meeting has been held by campaigners fighting against plans for a wind turbine at a sewage works.

Severn Trent Water wants to put a two mega watt turbine at Checkley sewage works in Staffordshire.

Residents say it would be less than 1,000m (3,280ft) from their homes, and fear the impact on the area.

Keith Flunder, chairman of the campaign group, said they had a lot of support. Andrew Griffiths, MP for Burton and Uttoxeter, was due to attend.

Campaigners calling themselves Staffordshire Turbine Action Group (Stag) said the meeting was at at Stramshall Village Hall.
