Man dies in machinery accident

A 35-year-old man has been killed after a portable conveyor belt fell on top of him at a recycling business in County Antrim.

Richard Livingstone died in the accident which happened at Emerald Isle Recycle in Randalstown on Friday.

Mr Livingston was the managing director of the company, which specialises in recycling plastic.

Trevor Clarke, MLA for the area said his death has shocked the local community.

"Richard Livingstone was a well known, hard working and much loved family man who will be greatly missed."

A spokesman for the Health and Safety Executive said inspectors had been informed and were investigating the incident.
