Murder inquiry after body found at Chasetown house
Police have started a murder inquiry after a man was found dead from a gunshot wound at a house in Staffordshire.
The man, who is believed to be 27-years-old, has not yet been formally identified, police said.
Officers were called to a house in Meadway Street, Chasetown, on Monday morning and found the body inside. He was confirmed dead at the scene.
A post-mortem examination showed he died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Detectives from Staffordshire Police's major investigation department have launched a murder inquiry into the incident.
Ch Insp Selwyn Burton said: "This type of shocking incident is very rare in Staffordshire and is being thoroughly investigated by the force's Major Investigation Department.
"Specially-trained officers are offering support to the victim's family."
The scene remained cordoned off on Tuesday.
