Elderly couple robbed by conman in Dundee

A couple in their 90s have been robbed by a man who conned his way into their house in Dundee.

Police said the man stole a three-figure sum of cash after talking his way into their home in Balmoral Gardens on Monday.

He is understood to have persuaded the elderly couple to let him in by suggesting he needed a telephone number for an electrician.

He was in the house for a few minutes before making a hasty departure.

The man is described as being in his early 20s, thin, with brown or fair hair. At the time he was wearing a navy T-shirt and tracksuit bottoms.

This week police in central Scotland warned householders against thieves who try to gain access to homes using distraction techniques.
