Boy, two, killed in hit-and-run crash in Barking

Police are hunting a hit-and-run driver after a two-year-old boy died in east London.

The victim, who has not being named, was hit by a blue VW Golf in Barking at about 1950 BST on Monday. He died in hospital a few hours later.

The car stopped momentarily following the crash but then left the scene.

A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as severe head injuries. Two men arrested in Essex have been released on bail.

Officers from Chadwell Heath police station are investigating and want anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.
