Police hurt by golf club attacker

Five police officers have been injured during an attack by a man wielding a golf club in Portrush.

CS Spray was used by police in arresting a 30-year-old man following the incident which happened in the Eglinton Street area at 0105 BST on Thursday.

One of the police officers suffered whiplash injuries and a number of cuts.

He was struck on the back and knocked to the ground.

Police are investigating a link to an earlier incident in the area in which bottles were thrown at a police patrol.
