Thieves steal 67 canaries from New Houghton garden

Thieves have stolen 67 canaries after breaking into aviaries in a Derbyshire village.

Padlocks were forced open on two sheds in a garden in Coronation Avenue, New Houghton, overnight between Wednesday and Thursday.

All the birds were taken apart from one canary and one quail, said a spokesman for Derbyshire Police.

Anyone who has information about the theft is being asked to contact the force.
