Dumfries driver faces Lancaster couple death charge

A driver has appeared in court charged with causing the deaths of a Lancaster couple in a crash on the A75 Gretna to Dumfries road in March.

Kevin McCrindle, 36, of Grieve Walk, Dumfries, appeared in private before Sheriff Marie McTaggart.

It was alleged he caused the deaths of John and Joan Machell, both aged 63, by driving dangerously and overtaking two vehicles when it was unsafe to do so.

No plea was made at Dumfries Sheriff Court and the case was continued.
