Boy's ribs broken in Oswestry bicycle attempted theft

A 15-year-old boy suffered broken ribs after being knocked off his bike by a man and then repeatedly punched.

West Mercia Police said the teenager was riding his BMX near Unicorn Road in Oswestry at about 2045 BST on Tuesday.

The man walked towards him, put out his arm and knocked him off his bike, then when the boy tried to stop him he dismounted, sat on his chest and punched him repeatedly.

The boy managed to break free, pick up his bike and escape.

The offender was described as white, about 30 years old, stockily built, about 6ft (1.82m) with a bald or shaven head.

He was wearing a black tracksuit and black gloves.

The boy suffered cracked ribs, his jeans were ripped and the chain on his bike was broken.
