A man and his 10-year-old daughter have been rescued from a cliff in County Antrim.

The girl had climbed 60 ft up a steep cliff face at Larry Bane Head on Saturday afternoon.

She became wedged in a crevice, and her father, who climbed up to assist her, also became stuck.

Ballycastle, Coleraine and Belfast Coastguard Rescue teams were sent to the scene and the pair were brought to saftey.

Belfast Coastguard duty watch manager, Liam Colquhoun, said the quick and professional response of the rescue teams ensured a positive outcome.

"People should be aware that climbing on cliffs without the proper expertise and equipment can be extremely hazardous."
