Fifteen people had to be moved from their homes as a gorse fire spread close to them.

Up to 40 firefighters tackled the fire, which affected 1,000 sq ft (93 sq m) close to Cock Hill Lane, Rubery, during the early hours.

People living in nearby Sandstone Avenue were moved as the fire continued.

West Midlands Fire Service said the fire was out after three hours although crews were remaining to dampen down.
