Girl forced into car and raped in Ipswich

A 17-year-old girl has been raped after being forced into a car and driven to a wooded area in Ipswich, Suffolk.

The girl was walking alone along Landseer Road at 1900 BST on Friday when a car pulled alongside her and the male driver forced her into the car.

He drove to a car park near a tyre centre and took the victim out of the car.

He then raped her in nearby woodland adjoining Holywells Road, said Suffolk Police.

'Nasty attack'

Afterwards the victim ran on to Cliff Lane and into Oulton Road where she flagged down a member of the public, who called the police.

She has described her attacker as a white male, aged about 47 years, with a medium build, shaved head and clean-shaven. He was wearing jeans.

Det Supt Jon Brighton, who is leading the investigation, said: "This investigation is very much still in the early stages.

"The female has been subjected to a nasty attack and although physically uninjured she is very shaken.

"I urge anyone who may have been in the area or who has any information which could assist with this inquiry to contact Ipswich CID without delay."
