A Borders bedding company has gone into administration, putting the jobs of 60 staff at risk.

Workers at Hawick quilt-makers Slumberdown Enterprises Ltd have been called to a mass meeting at the factory on Tuesday.

Tony Trench of the Unite union said it was "really disappointing news".

Roxburgh and Berwickshire MSP John Lamont said he hoped administrators would "work hard" to salvage any jobs they could.

"This is desperate news for Hawick," he said.

"My first thoughts are with the staff who will be facing huge uncertainty over their future."

The news came on the same day a buyer was found for another Hawick factory in administration.

Peter Scott & Co has been sold to duffle-coat maker Gloverall.
