New assistant chief constable for Gloucestershire

A new assistant chief constable has been appointed to Gloucestershire Constabulary.

Kevin Lambert, 45, is currently acting assistant chief constable in Northumbria Police.

Chief Constable Tony Melville said Mr Lambert's experience of tackling serious criminals and major crime would be invaluable to the county.

The married father-of-three started his career in 1981 joining as police cadet in Gloucestershire.

Mr Lambert is due to start in a few months' time taking over from acting assistant chief constable Steve Ackland.
