Bottle smashed on St Ann's robbery victim

A man had a bottle smashed over his head during a street robbery in Nottingham.

The 38-year-old victim was walking on The Wells Road in St Ann's when he was approached by a man who hit him with the bottle then stole his wallet.

The attacker ran off towards the city centre with another man and a woman.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to the robbery, which happened near Thomas Close and and the I C Discount shop at about 2310 BST on Monday.

Det Sgt James Bond said: "This was a wholly unprovoked and violent attack. On such as busy road and at this time of night we believe there would have been many cars and pedestrians around, who may have spotted something.

"I would ask those people to cast their minds back and see if they can remember anyone acting suspiciously."

The victim was not seriously injured and has been treated for cuts to his head at the city's Queen's Medical Centre.
