The sudden death of a 56-year-old man in a nursing home in Randalstown in September last year is being treated as murder, police have confirmed.

The identity of the man has not yet been released. He had been a resident at the Maine Road Nursing Home on the Ahoghill Road for nine years.

The investigation follows a post mortem examination and a final autopsy report by the state pathologist.

Detectives are working with the Health and Social Care Trust on the case.
