CBS and PCS leaders debate job losses

The Chancellor, George Osborne, will announce an £83bn package of cuts, in a review of spending that is expected to lead to the loss of half a million jobs in the public sector.

Some Whitehall departments will have their budgets reduced by a third, as the government tries to tackle the deficit.

David Frost, Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce, is confident private businesses will take on many of those who lose their jobs. Howeve Mark Serwotka, general secretary of the PCS union, said the impact of the cuts cannot be underestimated.
