Haiti police battle anti-UN protesters

Police in Haiti have used tear gas to disperse hundreds of protesters demanding the withdrawal of UN peacekeeping troops from the country.

Demonstrators say troops from Uruguay raped a Haitian man while peacekeepers from Nepal have been blamed for starting a cholera epidemic in 2010.

The UN force was first deployed in Haiti in 2004 to restore order after President Jean-Bertrand Aristide was overthrown and its mandate extended following the earthquake in January 2010.
